That was a fun project with a great team to work with as it so often is with engaged clinicians.
A cross-hospital group of junior doctors and consultants had been running an annual feedback survey across all London trusts. With a few years’ worth of data under their belts they were feeling somewhat weighed down and ready for some significant support in a better analysis of the data and much clearer reporting and visualisation. There were well over 100 questions in the survey (yiks!) and extensive and important free text comments, so we were pleased to be able use our decades of experience with surveys and data synthesis to work on the project – as well as bringing in the latest tools for text analysis and interactive reporting.
- With the survey data a blend of analysis tools identified the key performance areas and importance hierarchy among the huge mass of questions, and allowed a clear scorecard and drill-down to detail as needed
- With the free text comments from over 800 trainees, text analysis and thematic coding allowed everyone to see the difference in patterns of feedback, both positive and negatives by trust, specialty and level (year of training)
We produced both a classic ‘report’ and an online tool to allow interactive comparison between trusts, specialties and levels and will be workshopping the results shortly.
